The urgent.
That’s what we are conditioned to do first.
Deep down, of course, we know it’s ‘the meaningful’ and ‘the important’ that warrants our attention, not the urgent. Yet, how often do we find ourselves putting off the beneficial trip to the gym, the 5 or 15 minutes of silence to sit quietly before bed, sending the thank you card, taking the first essential steps of a project that is close to our heart or dinner with our partner?
Pretty much all the time?
Yup, it all gets back burnered until the “asap’s” get done.
The problem, however, is that the list of “asap’s” and urgent tasks never end.
We live in a society where it is far too easy to be manipulated by those that would make their important into our urgent.
Guard your heart.
Stay plugged into what is important + essential-–to you.
Ask yourself, “Is this my emergency or theirs?” Tweet this!
“Is it important to me to get this done now or can it wait?”
Prioritize accordingly.
